Product/Variations

Variations become truth once.

Capture a variation at the source and it becomes commercial truth once, one live register, aligned across head contractor and subcontractor, reconciled to the cent and reflected in the cost report.

Assessed line by line. Every revision kept. Nothing overwritten.

01 · Submit

Submit the variation where it happens.

The subcontractor or delivery team submits the variation in the system, with its full breakdown and evidence attached. From that moment it is linked to the contract and the commercial record, so nothing is retyped from an email into a spreadsheet later.

02 · Review and assess

Assessed line by line, not a blind yes or no.

The head contractor works the variation line by line: submitted amount against assessed amount, certify a line in full or trim it with a reason attached. Every adjustment is a considered position you can defend, not a single approve button that hides the detail.

03 · Approve

Approve the position, keep every revision.

The assessed variation moves through the approval workflow, thresholds and chain, to an agreed position. Every revision is kept as an immutable record: who submitted, who assessed, who approved, and when. A disputed variation stays defensible because nothing is ever overwritten.

04 · Live everywhere

The numbers are live everywhere, all the time.

A variation does not wait for approval to count. From the moment it is submitted, its numbers are live across every view, the register, the contract position and both sides of the chain. Once assessed, the assessed amount shows in the cost report, reconciled to the cent against the contract sum, and you decide whether to carry it into your forecast position, so the report reflects the call you made rather than one made for you.

Audit trailEvery adjustment, approval and change retained against the job.

Frequently asked

What does "truth once" mean for a variation?

A variation is entered a single time, at the source, and every downstream view reads that same record. There is no second copy in a spreadsheet and no re-keying: the register and the cost report both move from the one event, reconciled to the cent.

How are the head contractor and subcontractor kept aligned?

Both parties work against one live register that shows submitted and assessed amounts side by side. Because it is a single shared record on the unified contract model, both sides see the same position at the same time, rather than reconciling two separate trackers.

When does a variation show up in the numbers?

Straight away. From the moment a variation is submitted, its numbers are live across every view, rather than waiting on approval. Once it is assessed, the assessed amount shows in the cost report, reconciled to the cent against the contract sum, and you decide whether to carry it into your forecast position. Carrying it across to a matching subcontract variation is a deliberate step you take, not an automatic one.
